The skin of the face is one of the most delicate due to its constant exposure to the weather, but for the runners the risks and problems are multiplied by various causes.

Running outdoors exposes our skin to the sun, wind, humidity and the inclemency of the weather in each season. The main problem for the skin of runners who train outdoors is in the sun exposure for a long period of time. During training and competitions there is a greater sweating that is not usually associated with a rise in skin temperature due to radiation, but the exercise, but also occurs and so that the skin does not suffer damage is essential to apply Solar protection.

The consequences of a prolonged sun exposure without protection can lead to the appearance of sunspots, more wrinkles, telangiectasia

Therefore, to prevent the damage caused by sun exposure, you must be aware of the need to apply sunscreen half an hour or twenty minutes before starting and whenever you are going to be exposed to the sun during outdoor workouts, both in summer and in winter, in addition to repeating the application every two or three hours if it is still exposed.

It is true that although the sunscreen cream is applied correctly, some solar radiation will always penetrate, but it will be much less than if it is not applied. The running relieves depression and improves levels of stress and anxiety.

In case of practicing outdoor sports in times of low temperatures, we add the effect of solar radiation with that of temperature. Usually cold temperatures cause more dry skin that predisposes to irritation, eczema or dermatitis. Therefore, greater factors are added for the appearance of pathologies in the skin than if sports are performed in times of higher temperatures. If these symptoms appear it is advisable to consult a dermatologist and use a moisturizer adapted to the type of skin that helps to counteract the effects of dryness caused by the cold.

To take care of the skin in the gym it is best to use moisturizers and drink plenty of water to moisturize it also inside

In winter, many runners decide to train in the gymnasium to avoid cold, although they can also damage the skin. In these cases you also have to take care of the dermis since the air conditioners tend to dry the skin and the heaters cause greater sweating and increased vascularity in the skin. All this is not beneficial but it will always be less harmful than sun exposure. To take care of the skin in the gym rooms, the best thing to do is to moisturize it, using moisturizing creams on the outside and drinking water to take care of it from the inside. Ideally, avoid prolonged exposure to air conditioners whenever possible.

The intense and continuous training can cause loss of fatty tissues in the face that can affect the skin, which becomes thinner and usually more fragile to external aggressions by losing the natural sustenance that usually has the skin that is fat. It is common for people who train at a high intensity have a less smooth and consistent skin that if not properly cared for lead to a more premature aging of the skin. In these cases the ideal is to dose the way of exercising to try, as far as possible, not generate peaks of intensity. If the chosen training plan requires it, external agents that can damage the skin, such as the sun or extreme temperatures, should be avoided as much as possible.

(Small veins of the face), and even in greater solar exposures, the appearance of skin cancer.
